Ink cartridge (26) comprises a housing (11, 12) having portions defining an ink chamber (36) having a nozzle bore and adapted to heat ink located in the chamber to above 50[deg]C, and an ink in the ink chamber. The ink is adapted to be heated above 50[deg]C and is optimized for ejection through the nozzle bore in the form of an ink drop after the ink is heated to above 50[deg]C. Independent claims are also included for: (a) an inkjet printing system comprising a printhead; and a platen positioned relative to the printhead, having portions defining a path to convey media by the printhead, and including a first heater upstream from the printhead to heat the media to a first temperature prior to the media reaching the printhead, and a second heater downstream from the printhead to heat the media to a second temperature greater than the first temperature after the media passes the printhead; and (b) a method of printing, which comprises heating a hydrophobic media to a first temperature, depositing ink onto the hydrophobic media, heating the hydrophobic media having ink deposited on it to a second temperature higher than the first temperature such that the inks begins to dry, and heating the hydrophobic media having ink deposited on it to a third temperature greater than the second temperature such that the ink dries completely. |
