Methods and apparatus for securing components for manufacture

The method involves coupling one clamping unit and a biasing mechanism to a tool. The biasing mechanism is used to align a component e.g. gas turbine engine blade (10) within the tool between the two clamping units. The blade is secured between the two clamping units and is retained in position with respect to a fixture using the two clamping units. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for securing a component.
