Method and circuit for reading a potentiometer

The method involves recording a timer reading when a voltage of a capacitor (62) that is coupled to an end (42) of a potentiometer (40) reaches a reference voltage. Another timer reading is recorded when a voltage of a capacitor (66) that is coupled to other end (46) of the potentiometer reaches the reference voltage. The two recorded timer readings are then compared to determine the relative position of a wiper (41). An independent claim is also included for a device for reading a potentiometer.
