PURPOSE: A media information multiplexing system and method in a network using a previous knowledge/experience of a caller or a callee and the small number of communication resources are provided to transmit and display media information on a receiving terminal without using a bandwidth resource of a network. CONSTITUTION: A caller ID unit(21) detects ID information indicating an identity of a caller from a call. A memory(22) has an area for storing media information to be displayed at a terminal itself or media information transmitted to be displayed at a different terminal. In order to control displaying of the media information, the memory(22) includes an on-board PIM(Personal Information Management). The PIM database is positioned in a personal computer or other external computer unit connected to the terminal through a data port(25). Before receiving a call, a processor(20) controlling a method for displaying the media information at the terminal sets a parameter of an operating software(26). When a call is connected, the processor(20) displays the media information according to a service option designated by a control parameter and/or by a user. The media information is received from a transmission terminal on a display(28) or stored in the memory(22).
