Thin alloy sheet having a low thermal expansion which has a substantial chemical composition in mass %: Ni: 35.0 to 37.0%, Mn: 0.01 to 0.09%, Si: 0.01 to 0.04%, Al: 0.01 to 0.04% and balance: Fe, with the proviso that Mn/S is 20 to 300 and Mn + Si + Al is less than or equals 0.15%, and has an average thermal expansion coefficient in the range of 20 to 100 [deg] C of 1.0 x 10 -> 6>/K or less.
