Terminal-to-board connection

A connection comprises a terminal having a tip in a hole in a board wherein a land surrounds the hole and the ratio of the cross-section of the tip to that of the hole os 0.11 to 0.89. Preferably the cross-section of the tip is 0.09 to 0.25mmé and that of the hole is 0.44 to 0.79mmé. The cross-section of the tip may be a rectangle and the tip may have a side common with the rest of the terminal. The width of the land may be 0.4 to 0.6mm. Where more than one connection is made the ratio of the width of each land to the clearance between each pair of lands may be 1 to 1.5: the ratio of width of each land to the distance between adjacent hole centres is 0.18 to 0.27. The dimensions make a solder joint at the connection more reliable.
