Channel decoder for a european DAB receiver and channel decoding method thereof

The apparatus has a mapper (100) to map and store an input data in a deinterleaver memory (200) based to its address structure. A deinterleaver (300) forms a deinterleaved data at regular timing. A depuncturing unit (400) forms a depuncturing data by inserting a fixed value in a punctured data based on puncturing information. A Viterbi decoder (600) decodes a fixed unit of coded data into original form. The fixed unit of code data has the deinterleaved data and the depunctured data. The deinterleaver forms the deinterleaved data by deinterleaving the stored data at regular timing.
