A water-based pigmented ink for use in ink jet printing is disclosed, comprising a pigment and a latex, wherein the average particle size of the pigment (a) and the average particle size of the latex (b) are 10 to 150 nm and 10 to 100 nm, respectively, and satisfying the following requirementand the content of the latex being 0.1 to 10% by weight.
