The belt device comprises two belt sections (1, 2) joined to a ring (3). The first belt section (1) has a loop (4) at the opposite end to the ring. The second belt section (2) has a hook (5) secured to one free end and this hook can be used to join the belt device to a ring in another identical device. The hook at one end of a second belt section secured to the ring is in turn secured to the object (9) being pulled or lifted.
