PURPOSE: An image display device and a method for preventing image sticking of the image display device are provided to prevent a still image from sticking on a screen of the image display device using non-linear scaling. CONSTITUTION: An image display device includes a key input unit(100), a video signal input unit(400), a scaler(500), a microcomputer(200), and a display driver(700). The key input unit is used for selecting a user's request and an image sticking prevention mode and setting image sticking preventing conditions. The scaler conforms the video signal to a corresponding format. The microcomputer outputs a control signal to the scaler such that the scaler outputs a video signal in non-linear manner when the image sticking prevention mode is selected. The display driver drives the image display device to display an image corresponding to the signal output from the scaler according to the control signal of the microcomputer.
