A sliding gate having a motor driven gate portion (1) which can be shifted horizontally in order to close and expose an opening, said gate portion (1) in the closed position protruding from a support portion journalled for movement on a base. The support portion comprises a motor driven rail (2) having a length being approximately equal to the length of the gate portion (1), and the gate portion can be shifted with a speed and a distance being approximately twice the speed and distance with which the rail (2) is shifted. |
