The use of a compound of formula (II) in the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting sebum production in a subject, the compound being capable of inhibiting the acyl-Coenzyme A:fatty alcohol acyltransferase activity of a mammalian AFAT enzyme, wherein X and Y are selected from oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen and -(CR'R")n-, and the remaining substituents are defined herein.
