PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of a boundary part without deteriorating precision of a non-boundary part and suppress the occurrence of erroneous correspondence in the boundary part of complicated shape when acquiring depth information of a scene. SOLUTION: Depth information is acquired through the use of the stereo method principle, where basic principles of two methods, "an occlusion area estimation stereo" as a stereo processing method allowing for the occlusion and "an evaluation value limiting method" with higher precision attained while using a relatively large window, are integrated to be processed. That is, the depth information of the boundary area which cannot be obtained correctly with either of the methods, "the occlusion area estimation stereo" or "the evaluation value limiting method", is obtained with precision. The integration processing comprises "a function capable of performing matching without being much affected by an unreasonably high evaluation value" and thereby suppresses occurrence of an estimation error in such occlusion area as not matching an actual occlusion pattern.
