PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical refrigeration system effectively utilizing an expansion energy of an expanding machine as heat insulation compression energy of a compressor. SOLUTION: The refrigeration system is provided with the compressor in which a compression piston is reciprocatedly provided in a compression cylinder; a crank device in which a piston rod of the compression piston of the compressor is connected to a crank pin always reciprocated by a driving motor; the expanding machine in which an expansion cylinder is coaxially disposed to the compression cylinder of the compressor, the expansion piston is reciprocatably provided in this expansion cylinder and a piston rod of the expansion piston is connected to the piston rod of the compression piston such that this expansion piston is reciprocated with the compression piston of the compressor by a predetermined phase difference; and a heat exchanger provided on the midway of a pipe communicating the compressor with the expanding machine.
