PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a search system using a Web with an interface capable of inputting a high-degree search request from a user. SOLUTION: This information retrieval support system comprises a vocabulary information processing mechanism 41 for loading ontology corresponding to a selected service, analyzing the loaded ontology and extracting a concept structure, inference processing mechanism 42 for executing inference operation in accordance with an axiom rule and expanding and decomposing vocabulary information extracted by the vocabulary information processing mechanism 41, a concept information display part 31 for displaying the extracted concept structure on a browser of a user terminal 11 via Internet 10, characteristic information display part 32 for displaying characteristic information for a concept selected from the displayed concept structure on the browser, a relationship information display part 33 for displaying a relationship between concepts on the browser when the plurality of concepts are selected, and search request transmission part 34 for transmitting a predetermined search request to the search system in accordance with the search request given by the browser.
