Hydraulic reservoir with integral filter has the return feed through a labyrinth to remove any trapped gasses and thereby prevent foaming

A hydraulic reservoir, e.g. for a servo steering system, has the return flow ducted via an inlet valve into a labyrinth (5) which enhances the degassing of the fluid and which prevents foaming. The labyrinth is integrated into a filter (7) and is fitted into one part of the two part reservoir housing. The labyrinth and filter are replaced as one module.
