<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable gelatinizing agent-carrying porous film which carries a polymerizable gelatinizing agent for gelatinizing an electrolytic liquid in the manufacture of a battery, functions as a separator itself after eluting out the polymerizable gelatinizing agent into the electrolytic liquid and therefore can be suitably employed for the manufacture of a gel electrolyte battery, and a method for manufacturing a battery using the polymerizable gelatinizing agent-carrying porous film. <P>SOLUTION: The polymerizable gelatinizing agent-carrying porous film comprises a matrix comprising a high-molecular weight polyolefin resin and, carried therein, a bifunctional (meth)acrylate represented by general formula (I) as the polymerizable gelatinizing agent.
