<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a hard part and burr of a rectangular or diamond groove machining part and a perforating part in the polishing surface of an abrasive cloth made of porous urethane resin in cutting causing a linear recessed defect in the polished glass plate. <P>SOLUTION: In the abrasive cloth, grooving and perforating are performed in the polishing surface made of porous urethane resin by cutting. The polishing surface of the abrasive cloth and the polishing surface of the abrasive cloth of porous urethane resin are jointly slid on the conditions that the pressure is from 10g/cm<SP>2</SP>to 200g/cm<SP>2</SP>, and the rotational frequency is from 10rpm to 200rpm, both inclusive by a single-sided polishing device or a double-sided polishing device, thereby eliminating the hard part and burr of the cutting part of the polishing surface of the abrasive cloth.
