PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat release instrument selection method for an outdoor-installed board box allowing the selection of a suitable heat release instrument by anyone without relying upon an experience of a selection person. SOLUTION: A box dimension, calorific power of an in-board instrument, an in-board allowance temperature, the presumed maximum external air temperature and the installment state are inputted to a computer. An effective heat release area and solar radiation quantity of heat are specified from the installment state. A required ability of the heat release instrument is calculated by substituting these to an equilibrium equation of the in-board quantity of heat and the heat release amount to select a heat release instrument such as the heat exchanger, a ventilating fan, a louver and an air conditioner by the calculation value.
