PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable transfer foil which has superior metallic gloss, transferability and releasability, high adhesive strength and friction resistance after transfer and outstanding biodegradability. SOLUTION: This biodegradable transfer foil is structured of at least a biodegradable protection layer, a metallic thin film layer and a biodegradable adhesive layer sequentially laminated on a temporary support. The biodegradable protection layer is preferably composed of a resin composition including a polyester resin which contains 90-100 wt% of lactic acid residues and the mol ratio(L/D) of an L-lactic acid residue to a D-lactic acid residue falling within the range of 1-9. In addition, the biodegradable adhesive layer is structured of the resin composition including the polyester resin which contains 50-90 wt% of the lactic acid residues and 10-50 wt% of a caprolactone residue and the summation of the lactic acid residue content and the caprolactone residue content falling within the range of 60-100 wt%, with the mol ratio(L/D) of the L-lactic acid residue to the D-lactic acid residue falling within the range of 1-9.
