PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of deodorizing contaminated soil which can effectively deodorize the contaminated soil before the soil is washed, especially when the soil is excavated. SOLUTION: The method of deodorizing the contaminated soil is characterized in that, before the soil is washed, at least one kind of nonionic surfactant of 4-15 HLB (hydrophile-lipophile balance) is mixed with water to prepare a deodorizing liquid of an O/W type emulsion, and the deodorizing liquid is sprayed onto the soil to confine harmful volatile components in the soil for the deodorization of the soil.
