Play-free valve drive for an internal combustion engine comprises a cam shaft (2) with inlet and outlet cams (7), a roller tappet for each cam, a transfer element between the roller tappet and valve, and a compensation element (1). Each roller tappet consists of a roller bolt with a rotatably mounted roller (6). The compensation element is integrated in the roller tappet. The roller bolt is formed by a rotatably mounted eccentric bolt (4) rotating against the restoring force of a spring within its eccentric throw. The eccentric throw is designed so that the linear expansion of the valve drive during operation of the engine can be accommodated.
