<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design a device and a method of setting a crop mark, with which the crop mark is set, and a new web strip can be mechanically drawn via a compensation roller or an inverting means of another similar and appropriate crop mark setting device. <P>SOLUTION: A lateral cutter laterally cuts bundled web strips. The crop mark setting device sets the crop mark on the web strip related with the lateral cutting. The crop mark setting device has a first deflector for deflecting the first web strip around a first deflection axis and a second deflector for deflecting the second web strip around a second deflection axis. The second deflector is mounted movably with respect to the first deflector within a frame so that the path length of the second web strip with respect to that of the first strip can be changed by the movement of the second deflector against the first deflector.
