<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation control method capable of appropriately maintaining the image density of a toner pattern image by easily and accurately calibrating an image density sensor, and then, capable of obtaining a stable image of high quality, and to provide an image forming apparatus used for the performance of the aforesaid method. <P>SOLUTION: Prior to the replacement of the image density sensor or the constituent members of other image forming parts, the image density of the formed test toner patch image is detected by the image density sensor (S24), and an image forming condition is controlled (S25). After replacing the constitutional member, the image density of the test toner patch image formed based on the controlled image forming condition is detected by the image density sensor (S29), and the emission output and/or the photosensitivity are adjusted and the image density sensor is calibrated so that the detected value becomes a prescribed reference value (S30). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
