摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reluctance motor comprising a rotor provided with a magnetic barrier layer in more appropriate shape. SOLUTION: Such a shape of the magnetic barrier layer that the magnetic reluctance is low in the direction of the d-axis of a rotor and high in the direction of the q-axis brings gain in the salient pole properties of the rotor. Consequently, the magnetic barrier layer is so formed that its shape is in line with the isopleths of f = (r/r<SB>0</SB>)<SP>p</SP>sin(pθ) which represents lines of magnetic force. Further, to simplify the manufacture of the rotor, the isopleths of f = (r/r<SB>0</SB>)<SP>p</SP>sin(pθ) which represents the shape of the magnetic barrier layer is approximated by straight line, and the magnetic barrier layer is formed in line with the combination of the approximated straight lines.
