The present invention relates to compounds according to the general formula (I) which bind to the Liver X receptors (LXR receptors, LXRalpha/NR1H3 and LXRbeta/NR1H2) and act as selective agonists of the LXR receptors. The invention further relates to the treatment of diseases and/or conditions through binding of said nuclear receptors and selective agonistic effects by said compounds and the production of medicaments using said compounds. In particular the compounds are useful in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, obesity or other diseases associated with elevated lipoprotein (LDL) levels.
