PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform the remote control of a chipping device inserted to remove a contaminated part. SOLUTION: A device comprising a positioning mechanism 2 for positioning a support base 1 to an approximately central part in a chimney by pressing supporting legs 21, 21 to a chimney inner face by the support base 1 suspended down into a chimney by a crane, and a blast nozzle 3 supported on the support base 1 through a blast nozzle operating mechanism 4, and injecting an abrasive material toward the chimney inner face, is used. A distance between the blast nozzle 3 and the chimney inner face B is measured by an ultrasonic distance meter 93, and the abrasive material is injected while controlling the distance between the blast nozzle 3 and the chimney inner face B within a constant range to remove the contaminated part of the chimney inner face.
