PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting the presence or absence and the quantity of cells in specimen liquid, particularly efficiently detect by using simple parameter settings and detection device when a Langerhans' island released from a pancreas. SOLUTION: In this method for detecting the presence or absence of cells in the specimen liquid, the images of the specimen liquid is taken in by an imaging means, color signals in the specified range of the taken-in images are measured, and the measured results are compared with the measured results of the specimen without cells measured in the same manner beforehand or the measured results of the specimen having an already known quantity of cells.
