PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour extraction device capable of accurately inputting the contour of an object. SOLUTION: The degree of deviation or the degree of dispersion from an average contour line (average contour line data DH) approximating the practical contour of the object is generated as error data EA, EB, EC, or ED expressed in terms of distances, angles or dispersion values for each of input contour point data Dk1, Dk2 to Dkn successively obtained through a mouse 5 in a contour input operation. Then a sound of a sort corresponding to each of the generated error data EA to ED is outputted to notify the user of an input state. Consequently, an optional user can recognize the input state of the average contour by an auditory means in real time and can input data while being guided through the control of the sound output state.
