PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the continuous reading work efficiency of multiple sheets of documents by reading the entry information of those documents by preventing the sequence of the multiple sheets of documents from being made different when any reading incapability occurs when executing the concentrated reading of a plurality of invoices or the like. SOLUTION: The automatic reading of the entry information of multiple sheets of documents is continuously and optically executed by a high speed reading scanner 21 and a scanner controller 22. The read entry data(or OCR-converted character data) are continuously stored in a file server 26. Then, the documents whose automatic reading is made impossible by the high reading scanner 21 are optically read one by one by a low speed reading scanner 28 and a scanner controller 29, and the read entry data are continuously stored in a file server 26.
