PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a shock absorber for a two-wheeler so that shock absorbing action can be variably adjusted, response time is short and a structure is simple. SOLUTION: The shock absorber for the two-wheeler is provided with at least one cylinder containing a pressure medium and a piston, and arranged between a part elastically supported and the part not elastically supported. Electro-viscous liquid and/or magnetic viscous liquid are/is contained as the pressure medium in at least one of operation chambers 38, 41 of the cylinders, and during relative motion of the piston 3 and the cylinders 32, 33, the electro-viscous liquid and/or the magnetic viscous liquid flow(s) through a valve 16 in accordance with the electro-viscous liquid and/or the magnetic viscous liquid. A measurement signal is detected through a sensor 18, and is used for controlling or adjusting an electric field or a magnetic field in the valve 16 to adjust the shock absorbing action.
