PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure control stability with little operation load while performing necessary learning update of a target position in a device for changing the range of an automatic transmission by a motor. SOLUTION: The target angle in the range is learned based on the angle (trough position angle) of a range changeover shaft detected by a potentiometer in the state of being positioned by a detent mechanism. When the deviation between the trough position angle and the target angle is a first prescribed value or less in all the ranges, 1 is set to a learning completion flag to inhibit the learning of the target angle in all the ranges. When the above deviation exceeds a second prescribed value in a plurality of ranges in the learning inhibited state, 0 is reset to the learning completion flag to release the learning inhibition of the target angle in all the ranges.
