摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jamb of an elevator reducing deformation due to the expansion of a three-way frame member caused by a rise in the temperature of a jamb in the event that a fire occurs at a landing. SOLUTION: The jamb 4 which constitutes an edge of the entrance 7 of a landing 3 is positioned at an opening of an elevator shaft 1 and a closure plate 8 is provided between an edge of the jamb 4 and an edge of the opening. The edge of the closure plate 8 is fastened to the edge of the jamb 4. The surface of the edge of the closure plate 8 opposite to the edge of the opening is fastened by a fastener passed through an oblong hole to close a gap between the edge of the opening and the jamb 4. Should a fire occur at the landing 3 of one story, longitudinal elongation of the jamb 4 is caused by heating, but since the closure plate 8 is fastened by means of the oblong hole, the closure plate slides in the direction of the elongation. Thus, the rate of warping and twisting is decreased by the restraining of the elongation during expansion and the rate at which gaps form between the jamb 4 and an opposite member is reduced to prevent the inflow of flames and smoke and the spread of a disaster.
