The present invention provides a hydrogen-storing carbonaceous material obtained by heating a carbonaceous material at more than 50° C. under the atmosphere of reducing gas, a hydrogen-stored carbonaceous material obtained by hydrogen storage in the carbonaceous material heated at more than 50° C. under the atmosphere of reducing gas, and a battery or a fuel cell using the hydrogen-stored carbonaceous material. A hydrogen-storing carbonaceous material is provided.
