The present invention is concerned with the formation of knots in filamentary material. The invention has particular application to the formation of knots in suturing and in ligating tubular structures, such as blood vessels. Devices are provided which carry at least one loop (22, 220, 230, 101, 116, 122) of filamentary material, such as suture material. The loop or loops can be used in the formation of sutures. |
