Air flow sensor error detection device for a motor vehicle combustion engine comprises an additional pressure sensor downstream of a choke in the inlet channel to the engine. A calculation unit determines the airflow volume in the inlet based on the air flow sensor signal and the pressure sensor signal. The two figures are compared in order to detect an error in the air flow sensor. An Independent claim is made for an air flow sensor error detection method.
