CARS-microscopy (coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering) microscope has means for generation of a pumped light beam and a Stokes light beam that can be coaxially guided through the microscope optics onto a sample. A detector is further provided for detection light from the sample. The means for generation of the pumped and Stokes light beam comprise a laser and a micro-structured optical element that spectrally broadens the laser light. An Independent claim is made for a CARS-microscopy method.
