Compound motor comprises a reciprocating combustion machine, in which the high pressure-high temperature part of the thermodynamic circulation takes place, and a planetary rotation machine for the low pressure part of the circulation process and consisting of two housing units each with a rotor. One unit acts as a charge compressor (2:1-C) for the reciprocating combustion machine and the other unit acts as an expander (2: 1-EXP) for the post-expansion of the gases leaving the reciprocating combustion machine. Preferred Features: The lifting piston of the reciprocating combustion machine has a cross-head for reducing the friction losses arising at high gas pressures.
