<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adequately detect toner concentration in an image forming apparatus having a developing means which develops an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier by use of two-component developer containing polymerization toner. <P>SOLUTION: The developing means has a conveying member which stirs and conveys the two-component developer in its axial direction, and a toner concentration sensor TS which is disposed opposite the conveying member and spaced 0.8 mm or less apart from the conveying member.
