<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an obesity inhibitor by using a natural material-derived raw material inhibiting the absorption of ingested fat into a body, or capable of accelerating the fat metabolism in the living body tissue, and a composition capable of effectively utilizing the inhibitor industrially. <P>SOLUTION: The obesity inhibitor contains (1) the dried powder, extract or purified material of the root of a plant belonging to the genus Astilbe containing bergenin, suitably Astilbe thunbergii, more suitably the extract of them with ethanol, acetone or a water-containing solvent of them or an ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the water-containing acetone extract, and at least (2) the dried powder, extract or purified material of the root of Coleus forskohlii containing forskolin and/or (3) the dried powder, extract or purified material of Engelhardtia chrysolepsis.
