<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which, in order to maintain the qualities of a printer and a consumable article, prevents use of a pirated consumable article or use of a consumable article fraudulently refilled with toner. <P>SOLUTION: An RFID sheet is stuck to a toner set. An antenna and an RFID control circuit are provided for a printer control board. A random number having two or more bytes is written in a data area of the FRID. Encryption data created using a pattern predetermined from the random number is also written. When a printer is started or when an opening/closing door for consumable article replacement is closed, it is checked whether the random number and the encryption data match or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
