<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of measuring the hydrogen permeability of a metal, which is a direct measurement method capable of performing an accurate measurement, even if the concentration of hydrogen gas used in the measurement is low, and to provide a device for the same. <P>SOLUTION: The device is composed of an outer container 2, a sample electrode 3 composed of a sample metal, a standard gas 4 composed of a gas mixture of the hydrogen gas having a fixed partial pressure and argon gas, an electrolyte 5 composed of an acid or alkaline aqueous solution or a molten salt, a counter electrode 6 composed of an inner vessel which is made of palladium or an alloy thereof and immersed in the electrolyte, a voltage-applying means 9 for applying a voltage between the sample electrode and the counter electrode, a temperature measurement means for measuring the temperature of the device, and a limiting current measurement means 10 for measuring a limiting current flowing between the sample electrode and the counter electrode required for obtaining the hydrogen permeability of the sample metal at the temperature, using the Fick's First law and the Sievert's Law. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
