<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To burn PM at the lowest temperature without lowering NOx purifying performance, in regard to an exhaust emission control device reducing exhaust components such as the PM, HC, CO, NOx included in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: In an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, a wall flow type particulate filter 3 for scavenging particulates in the exhaust is provided. An alkali metal catalyst 8 including no precious metal is supported in an upstream side of a scavenging wall 33 of the particulate filter 3, and an occlusion type NOx catalyst 7 is supported in a downstream side of the scavenging wall 33 of the particulate filter 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
