PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an electrophotographic photoreceptor of high picture quality which has superior productivity and is free of image unevenness. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor which forms a photosensitive layer on a conductive base surface with the aid of immersion coating by making a paint containing a photosensitive material overflow, a coating tank has an opening lid and a distance between the opening lid and a liquid level at which the paint overflows is≤30 mm.
