PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shell-shaped needle roller bearing properly operable, when integrated into a housing, without reducing the dynamic rated capacity of the bearing while suppressing its deformation, and a manufacturing device for shell-shaped outer ring. SOLUTION: The rigidity of this shell-shaped needle roller bearing is reduced by thinning, in a shell-shaped outer ring 12, the thickness t1 of a center part 12c having the rolling raceway surface of a needle roller 13. Accordingly, when the shell-shaped roller bearing 11 is integrated into the housing 8 relatively easy to deform, a bad influence such as deformation of a piston hole 8b can be suppressed. On the other hand, the thickness t2 of axial ends 12a and 12b of the outer ring 12 is set larger than the thickness t1 of the center part 12c having the rolling raceway surface of the needle roller 13, whereby the run-on of the needle roller 13 to the folded end parts 12a and 12b of the outer ring 12 in operation can be suppressed even if the outer diameter d of the needle roller 13 is increased to ensure a long life, and the smooth operation of the roller bearing 11 can be ensured.
