A melt thermal transfer recording paper, which comprises a stretched resin film containing 30 to 75 wt % of an inorganic fine powder or an organic filler and 70 to 25 wt % of the sum of a thermoplastic resin having a Vicat softening point of 140°C or lower and a polyolefin based resin having a Vicat softening point higher than 140°C (more than 75 and 900 or less parts by weight of said thermoplastic resin relative to 100 parts by weight of the polyolefin based resin). The melt thermal transfer recording paper exhibits improved suitability for melt thermal transfer.
