PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To photograph an image correctory by automatically setting an optimal photographing status corresponding to an arbitrary photographing class only by designating the photographing class out of photographing statuses divided into a plurality of photographing classes when photographing the image. SOLUTION: When an article code is inputted as a bar code by a hand scanner 30 connected to a personal computer (PC) 13 and the corresponding article placed on a stage 17 within a photographing box 11 in which photographing conditions of an illumination angle, article layout, a photographing focus, a photographing iris, a photographing zoom, a photographing angle, a shutter and the like are controlled is photographed by a video camera 12 to capture article image data into the PC 13 in response to a command from the PC 13, photographed image data of the article are stored in an image data memory within a RAM and a memory address storing the image data of the article is stored in a data memory by articles in accordance with the article code inputted as the bar code.
