PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic electroluminescent element which has high heat resistance and exhibits blue light emission of excellent color purity. SOLUTION: The organometallic complex is represented by general formula (I). In the organic electroluminescent element having an anode, a cathode and a light emitting layer laid between them, the organic electroluminescent element comprises the light emitting layer containing the organometallic complex.
