PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel core and a reel using it for preventing generation of paper powder while facilitating a disposal process and reducing defects during manufacture. SOLUTION: The reel 5 includes the reel core 1 and flanged plates 3, 3 provided on either side of the reel core 1 and each having a large-diameter disc shape. Using an injection molding machine, the reel core 1 is integrally molded from a molding material containing vegetable fibers, a binder, water, metallic soap, and a fluidizer, and is finished to have a smooth surface and substantial hardness while being biodegradable. The reel core 1 is formed to have a required thickness and approximately circular on side view. A peripheral surface part 10 forming the thickness of the reel core 1 is a tape winding part for winding carrier tape. The flanged plates 3, 3 are formed of corrugated boards. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
