PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electrode excellent in start-up characteristics without an emitter coated on an inner face of a hollow electrode and a cold-cathode discharge tube equipped with the electrode manufactured in the method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the electrode is to heat a hollow electrode 1, then coat an emitter 7 on an outside of the hollow electrode 1 before a temperature raised due to heating falls, and promote drying of the emitter 7 by making a remaining heat of the hollow electrode 1 transferred to the coated emitter 7.
